Chiefs’ Kichton again doubly honored

Spokane Chiefs captain Brenden Kichton repeated as the team’s player of the year and earned his third consecutive John “Hitman” Hern Defenseman of the Year honor, the team announced in a ceremony before Friday night’s home game against the Tri-City Americans.

Kichton, 20, played in his 332nd career game Friday, tying Tim Krymusa (1998-2003) for second in franchise history. Kichton is No. 2 in career assists (197) with Spokane and is the team’s all-time leader for assists, goals (67) and points by a defenseman.

Other team awards went to Carter Proft, Players Player; Mitch Holmberg, Ken Rabel Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year; Adam Helewka, Rookie of the Year; Mike Aviani, Humanitarian of the Year; and Jason Fram, Scholastic Player of the Year.
