Scalia comment outrageous
Let’s be very clear now. The hoods have come off. When Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia made his statement that the Voting Rights Act is “a perpetuation of racial entitlement,” there has never been such a fascist, racist statement by any Supreme Court justice in history. If this statement were made even five years ago, there would have been a public outcry for impeachment. (Yes, Supreme Court justices can be impeached.)
Voter suppression is alive and well in many states, including Northern states such as Ohio and Michigan. I asked the question months ago when writing about the destruction of God’s creation: “Where are the churches concerning protecting the climate?” Now, I ask the question: “Where are the churches concerning protecting the human dignity of all of God’s children?”
Organized religion is the last social force that has enough clout to stand up to the greedy corporate-cratic governance in this country. Will it remain quiet about this issue, too?
