Sidelined Southern California tailback Silas Redd will miss the rest of spring football practice with a torn meniscus in his knee. Redd will have surgery on his knee, but should be completely healthy for training camp in July, coach Lane Kiffin said Saturday.

• Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey will need surgery after fracturing a cheekbone in an NHL game Friday in Edmonton. Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said that Quincey flew home to Detroit after he was injured.

Hospitalized Alabama football coach Nick Saban says hospitalized athletic director Mal Moore is “in good spirits.” Saban said he visited Moore in a Birmingham hospital on Wednesday, before his 73-year-old boss was transferred to Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Moore was hospitalized last week with pulmonary problems.
