Obituary: Bauer, Patricia Ann (Salisbury)

BAUER, Patricia Ann (Salisbury) (Age 72) A lifelong resident of Spokane, Patty was born on April 6, 1940 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

She grew up on the South Hill and attended school at Jefferson Elementary, Sacajawea Middle School, and Lewis and Clark High School (Class of 1958).

Patty studied psychology at Washington State University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

During her time at the University, she spent a school year at the University of Hawaii, one of many trips she would eventually make with her own family to the islands she adored.

While working for United Airlines, Patty met her husband Bob after he noticed her at a dance at the Elks.

He obtained her name from a friend, went to visit her at the airport and four months later they were married in Spokane on April 12, 1963.

The brevity of their engagement could not foretell the 50-year love story that would follow.

In the early years, Bob and Patty traveled to South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Hawaii.

Later, with their sons, they would spend several summer and winter vacations on the island of Maui.

Patty enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and driving around town in her blue Volkswagen Bug, earning her the name “Grandma Blue.”

She will be remembered for her generous acts of kindness, her thoughtful cards and notes, and her Youth Dew scent.

Patty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She had a kind and infectious spirit that touched everyone who came into contact with her.

Above all, Patty loved and cherished her husband, Bob; their love for each other was an inspiration to those around them.

Survived by her husband and love of her life Robert Bauer; their son Todd Bauer, his wife Heidi, and their two children McKenzie and Ainsley of Spokane; their son Scott Bauer, his wife Kristin, and their two children Joshua and Avery of Kirkland; their son Mark Cross, his wife Cameron, and their two children Eli and Nathan of St. Louis, Missouri; her brothers Roger Salisbury and James Salisbury of Spokane.

Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Louise Salisbury.
