HANSEN, Robert Lawrence (Age 88) Robert Lawrence Hansen passed peacefully on February 14, 2013, in Yuma AZ, surrounded by several family members. He joined his sweetheart Dorie who preceded him in death on January 22, 2013. Bob was born on November 23, 1924, in Milltown, WI to Albert and Lillian Hansen. When Bob was approximately two years old the family moved to Tillamook, OR. After three years, the family moved to Kelso, WA where Bob graduated from Kelso High School in 1943. HANSEN, Robert Lawrence (Age 88) Robert Lawrence Hansen passed peacefully on February 14, 2013, in Yuma AZ, surrounded by several family members. He joined his sweetheart Dorie who preceded him in death on January 22, 2013. Bob was born on November 23, 1924, in Milltown, WI to Albert and Lillian Hansen. When Bob was approximately two years old the family moved to Tillamook, OR. After three years, the family moved to Kelso, WA where Bob graduated from Kelso High School in 1943. He was wounded in the Normandy Campaign on July 8, 1944 and received a Purple Heart and Honorable Discharge on May 10, 1945. After returning from the war, he met and married Phyllis Mensing. They moved to Spokane in 1957. They had three children, Terri, Sylvia, and Larry. Later he met and married Dorie (Coleman) in 1963. They moved out to Long Lake and Bob and Dorie raised two of his three children. Bob worked for the U S Postal Service from 1953 to 1980. He was a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Nine Mile Fire Department and drove school bus for Laidlaw Bus Service, where he enjoyed the children very much. After Bob retired he and Dorie took their motor home on many road trips and eventually settled in the warmth of Yuma, AZ. Bob and Dorie loved dancing, and danced thousands of miles with him singing in her ear as they danced. Bob attended Calvary Lutheran Church and received great joy from participating in serving the less fortunate in Yuma. Bob is survived by his children: Teresa (Hansen) Lahti (Roger) of Kennewick WA, Sylvia Hansen (Dean Hicks) of Pasco WA, Larry Hansen (Kay) Boise ID, and stepchildren: Fred Coleman (Zona Robertson) and Karol Coleman (Ann) of Spokane WA, sister: Ardyce Bafus, WA, brothers: William Hansen, CA, Allen Hansen, TX, grandchildren: Damon, Tiffany, Aleshia, Christie, Kelly, Robin, Todd, Mark, Ty, Lorie, Rebecca, numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Dorie, parents Albert and Lillian Hansen, brother Gary, stepchildren Earl Coleman and Vergie Coleman. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Heritage Chapel.
