Obituary: Wilcox, Dale

Age 80

WILCOX, Dale Born to Willard Wilcox and Ruth (Jones) Wilcox in Spokane, WA on July 11, 1932.

Passed away February 3, 2013, after a short battle with lung cancer.

The railroad took the family to Avery, Idaho in 1942.

After his sophomore year in Avery, Dale boarded with a family in Alberton, MT to finish high school.

There he met the love of his life, Dolores Helen Cooper.

They married November 29, 1954, after he returned from his service in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Dale earned two bronze stars along with numerous medals and honors.

Dale and Dolores moved to Spokane, WA where he attended college under the GI Bill.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores; children Karen Wilcox, Randy (Paula) Wilcox; grandchildren Melissa (Don) Lilly, Matthew (Ara) Wilcox; many nieces and nephews; as well as sister-in-law Suzanne Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lowell and Don Wilcox; sister-in-law June Bestwick and her husband Norman; and brother-in-law Gary Cooper.

Dale worked for more than 28 years building over-the-road trailers.

He greatly enjoyed his 50-year hobby of raising show rabbits and the people he met through this hobby.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13 at 10:00am at Valley Assembly of God, E. 15618 Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA.
