WinCo plans for CdA center

Hughes Investments, a California-based developer with an office in Coeur d’Alene, plans to start work in early May on a 17-acre retail center anchored by a WinCo Foods supermarket at Ramsey Road and Appleway Avenue in Coeur d’Alene.

The goal is to open The CrossRoads at Coeur d’Alene in early March 2014, said Alan Johnson, the company’s senior vice president of development.

The site is just north of Interstate 90 and across Ramsey from the Salvation Army Kroc Community Center.

The store will be about 72,000 square feet and will include attached retail spaces.

The city is still reviewing the building plan and has not yet issued permits.

The development plan for The CrossRoads also shows a convenience store/gas station and four other commercial pads, which will include a bank, a fast-food outlet and other businesses.

Boise-based WinCo, an employee-owned company known for low prices, has 86 stores in seven states, including three in the Spokane area and one in Moscow.

Insurance office moves

Greg Anderson has leased 1,300 square feet for his new American Family Insurance office at the Loma Vista Shopping Center, 5521 N. Alberta St. in north Spokane.

He’s moving into space formerly used by State Farm Insurance.

Stir Eatery changes focus

New owner Ryan Lieuallen has spent more than $15,000 to convert Stir Eatery & Lounge, 7115 N. Division St., from a sports bar to a martini bar.

The previous owner opened the bar in north Spokane in 2008.

Lieuallen has hired Spokane mixologist Robert Dixon to develop a list of new martinis.

The improvements include new coolers, lights, seats and wine racks.

Lieuallen has also added a lunch menu.
