Out of some 700 total words written about the athletes, a mere 7.7 percent were written about the great wrestlers we have in our local area. Not a word was written about Shadle Park’s state champion; North Central’s champion; Central Valley’s two state champions; or Mead’s two state champions – one of them is Chandler Rogers who has a chance next year to be Spokane’s first four-time state champion.
Next time Greg Lee writes a column about area athletes, he should separate it by doing one on basketball and a separate one on wrestling and gymnastics. Maybe he forgot about wrestling because the Olympic Committee in its infinite wisdom has decided to give up that great sport.
