Western holds off Falcons
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Richard Woodworth scored 15 points and hit two free throws with 7.7 seconds left on Tuesday night to help No. 4-ranked Western Washington beat No. 2 Seattle Pacific 62-58 in the NCAA Division II West Regional men’s basketball championship game.
The Vikings (30-2) head to the Elite Eight in Louisville, Ky., for a chance to win their second straight national title. Seattle Pacific (27-4) came up short of the host Vikings in the West Regional final for the second straight year.
Guard Riley Stockton (Ferris High) led SPU in rebounding (8) and assists (5), while adding 7 points.
Woodworth was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
