Woods, skier Vonn confirm relationship
Sports has a new power couple: Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn confirmed they’re dating.
Two months after rumors began circulating in Europe, Woods and Vonn posted separate items on their Facebook pages Monday afternoon to announce their relationship. The posts include photos of golf’s 14-time major winner and the Olympic and World Cup downhill ski champion.
“This season has been great so far and I’m happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral,” Woods said. “Something nice that’s happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating.”
“I guess it wasn’t a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods,” Vonn said on her Facebook page.
Both said they wanted to keep everything else private.
Homophobic remark surprises fans
Once upon a time, Michelle Shocked was universally regarded as one of the most politically progressive and active of rock artists, an outspoken supporter of an array of liberal causes. She also embraced an ambiguous sexual identity.
Then Shocked became a born-again Christian, and her pluralistic perspective appeared to change. That shift allegedly culminated on Saturday when, according to a number of news reports, Shocked stunned her audience at the San Francisco nightclub Yoshi’s when she blurted out, “You are going to leave here and tell people, ‘Michelle Shocked said God hates (gays),’ ” using a pejorative term.
Shocked’s outburst, and subsequent fan outrage, has caused several venues to cancel the singer-songwriter’s upcoming shows. Shocked always has reveled in her role as a cultural provocateur. But this time it looks as though her shock tactics have backfired badly.
