Robinson Cano, Jose Reyes and Fernando Rodney of the champion Dominican Republic have been chosen to the all-World Baseball Classic team.

The squad was announced Wednesday. Fans and media combined to pick the team sponsored by MetLife.

Cano hit .469 and was the tournament MVP. The New York Yankees’ second baseman hit two homers and drove in six runs as the Dominicans went 8-0, capped by a 3-0 win over Puerto Rico on Tuesday night for their first WBC title.

Dominican teammates Edwin Encarnacion, Nelson Cruz, Reyes and Rodney joined Cano on the all-star team.

Major leaguers David Wright, Yadier Molina, Angel Pagan and Michael Saunders also were chosen. Pitchers Nelson Figueroa and Kenta Maeda also were selected, as was designated hitter Hirokazu Ibata.

Encarnacion drove in six runs. The first baseman will now return to Toronto’s spring training camp with Reyes, the shortstop who batted .314 and scored seven runs.

Cruz, the Texas outfielder, hit .303 with six RBIs. Rodney, the Tampa Bay closer, had seven saves and a 0.00 ERA.

Wright hit .438 with 10 RBIs before the New York Mets’ third baseman was forced to leave the U.S. team because of a rib strain.

Saunders hit .727 for Canada. The Seattle outfielder also drove in seven runs.

Ibata hit .556 with four RBIs to lead Japan into the semifinals. Maeda, his teammate, had an 0.60 ERA in 15 innings and struck out 18.
