Boy, 8, killed in car wreck north of Moses Lake

An 8-year-old boy was killed in a two-car collision Saturday night eight miles north of Moses Lake.

Daniel Vazquezlopez was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, the Washington State Patrol said.

The boy was a passenger in a 2000 Toyota 4Runner driven by Teresa Vazquezlopez, 50, of Ephrata, the WSP said.

The woman, who was wearing a seat belt, was northbound on State Route 17 when she drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected and struck a 2013 Toyota Highlander.

She was injured and airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

Two people in the Highlander, Danny L. and Tamra S. O’Neal, of Othello, were injured and taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

The accident remains under investigation with charges pending, the WSP said.
