Obituary: Armstrong, Roger

ARMSTRONG, Roger Roger Armstrong, formerly of Leisure Park, Hayden, died in early March 2013 in Coeur d’Alene.

He was 88 years old.

Born in a small farming community in west central Illinois, he served in the Army/Air Force in England during WWII.

After the war he married his high school sweetheart, Lois Patterson.

They moved to Denver where Roger earned a degree in accounting.

He subsequently worked for Denver Basin Oil Company until moving to Spokane to work for Sunshine Mining Company.

By the time he reached retirement age, he had been with Medical Service Corporation of Spokane County for several years.

He and Lois lived in Spokane from the late 1950’s until retirement took them to Windy Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene, where they continued to enjoy the log cabin they’d renovated over the years.

They later moved to Hayden when the proximity to medical facilities became an issue.

Roger is survived by his wife Lois; sons David (Karen) and Steven, daughter Laurie (Bill); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His family loved him dearly.

The family wishes to thank the management and staff at Rose Terrace Cottages for the care and understanding they gave Roger during the final years of his life.
