Obituary: Hill, Mervin Lee “Merv”

Age 83

HILL, Mervin Lee “Merv” (Age 83) Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Mervin “Merv” Lee Hill, 83, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away March 24, 2013 at the Regency Pacific of Pinehurst, Idaho.

He was born July 23, 1929 at Goose Lake near Westby, Montana; Merv was the son of Lee and Amelia (Listoe) Hill.

Merv attended and graduated from the Kellogg High School of Kellogg in 1948.

He then attended the Lewis and Clark State College for two years and the North Idaho College for one year.

Merv proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the 301st air refueling squadron during the Korean Conflict.

Merv married Ann Carter on December 29, 1971 at the United Church of Kellogg.

Merv served as business manager for the Kellogg School District #391 for thirty plus years.

He had also served as a councilman and the Honorable Mayor for the City of Kellogg for thirty plus years.

Merv was a member of the Smelterville Lions Club and had also served as District Governor for the Lions; he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #20 of Murray, Idaho and a member of the American Legion #36.

Merv had also attended the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pinehurst.

Merv loved and enjoyed his family, friends, the City of Kellogg and the Smelterville Lions Club.

Merv is survived by his beloved wife Ann Hill of the family home of Kellogg; four daughters Teresa (John) Baillie of Pinehurst, Lisa (Darrell) Fisher of Post Falls, Idaho, Carol (Beaver) Williams of Elizabeth Park-Kellogg and Beth (Matt) James of Kingston; nine grandchildren Aaron Schonewald, Casey Fisher, Janelle Baker, Stephanie Shafer, Derek Williams, Amy Williams, Jasmine James, Jacob James and Josiah James; eight great-grandchildren.

Merv was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter Shelley Schonewald.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pinehurst with Rev.

Ken Bartle officiating.

A reception/luncheon will be held at the church following services.

Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
