Two people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire ripped through a Spokane Valley house early this morning. The fire at 4908 E. 1st Ave. broke out around 1:30 a.m., a release from the Spokane Valley Fire Department said. When firefighters arrived on scene, flames were coming out of “every door and window.” Initial reports were that someone was still in the house, but a search determined the house was empty. One person living in the home and another citizen were taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. Another person who lived at the home was not there when the fire started, according to the release. The American Red Cross is assisting the family. The cause of the fire and a damage estimate are not yet known. The release said it is unclear if the house had working smoke detectors.
