A man and a woman were found dead in a Cheney apartment Saturday, and police are investigating the deaths as homicide. Cheney police did a welfare check at the Rosebrook Inn, 304 W. First St., at 11:40 a.m. on a report that there were possibly two homicide victims inside, according to Deputy Craig Chamberlin of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, which is assisting in the investigation. They found two bodies inside the apartment. Investigators believe there are no suspects at large, Chamberlin said. Deputies are waiting for a search warrant to continue the investigation. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and release the identity of the victims, Chamberlin said. A neighbor who didn’t wish to be identified said she knew the victims, one who was 66 years old and the other in the 30s, she said. She said she usually sees one of the residents daily but hadn’t seen that person for the past few days.
