Obituary: Hafner, Jacquelyn Louise (Palmer)

HAFNER, Jacquelyn Louise (Palmer) A lifetime resident of Spokane, Jackie entered into rest on March 24, 2013, after a long illness.

She was born August 18, 1943 to Edward and Hazel Palmer, the youngest of three girls.

Jackie attended St. Xavier Grade School and Marycliff High School for two years.

She then went to John R. Rogers High School where she met Kerry Hafner, her “first date” and high school sweetheart.

They graduated in 1961.

Jackie went to work at Kaiser Trentwood in data entry, Sacred Heart Hospital and Washington Water power.

She married Kerry on August 14, 1965.

They were married for 47 years.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, Shawn and Justin, sister Carol, (Duncan) Hallett, all of Spokane; brother-in-law Pat (Sue) Hafner, Silver Lake, WA, numerous nieces and nephews and her dog, Dexter and 23 year old pet turtle, Tank.

She had a huge collection of turtles.

Jackie worked several years at Father Goose Daycare.

She enjoyed baking, sewing, shopping, crafts, and decorating her home for all the holidays, especially Christmas.

She made hundreds of homemade Christmas ornaments and decorations for every other holiday.

For many years she enjoyed making table centerpieces for parties for the Wanderers Auto Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley Lutz (Anchorage, AK), mother and father-in-law, sister-in-law (Chris), grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

We wish to thank Fresenius Northpointe Dialysis, doctors and nurses at Deaconess Hospital and Avalon Care Center for their care and kind attention to Jackie.

She was loved and will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

There will be a funeral service in her honor on Monday, April 1st, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Jackie will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
