Obituary: Bowen, Ned F.

BOWEN, Deacon Ned F. (Age 82) Ned passed away peacefully at his home in Greenacres, WA on March 26, 2013 surrounded by his family.

He was born July 9, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Ed and Gerry Bowen.

Ned married Eileen Leone on January 3, 1954 at St. Malachy’s Church, New York, NY.

He was a restauranteur in the NY/NJ area for 20 years, an advocate for children with St. Christopher-Ottilie, and more recently has been very active in phone ministry as a member of the St. Mary’s prayer chain.

Ned was also a Deacon for the Roman Catholic Church (ordained in December 1975, Archdiocese of Newark, NJ-ministry: the sick and elderly shut-ins).

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Bowen of Greenacres, WA; daughter, Marirose Bowen Hogan of Catskill, NY; sons, Ned Bowen, JR of Greenacres and Gene Bowen of Warwick, NY; 3 daughters-in-law; sisters, Barbara Bowen Kostensky of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Dean Hart of Gretna, LA as well as 10 grandchildren.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents and son, Tom Bowen.

Ned’s Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spokane Valley, WA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Horizon Hospice, 123 W. Cascade Way, Spokane, WA 99208.
