Obituary: Croonquist, Steven Richard

CROONQUIST, Steven Richard (Age 69) Steven, a Montana cowboy born in Billings, MT December 4, 1943 to Richard C. Croonquist and Jean H. Croonquist, passed away peacefully March 21, 2013 at home with his family.

Steven grew up on the family ranch in Deer Lodge, MT until moving to Spokane in 1956.

He attended Central Valley High School, Powell County High School and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1963.

Steven also completed some college level business law classes.

Steven was a hard worker from his early days on the ranch to working 2-3 jobs at a time to support his own family as an adult.

He owned his own businesses down through the years, which included Independent Restaurant & Bakery Equipment and finally, Food Equipment International with his wife, Susan.

He was very well known in the industry for his extensive knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, especially Hobart mixers.

He could talk someone through mixer repair over the phone, no matter where they were.

He loved nature, animals and outdoor adventures.

Steven always thought “outside of the box” and was admired for his inventiveness.

He was an avid gardener and recycler.

He was always ready to learn and eager to share his experience with others.

His sense of humor was contagious.

He was spiritual, with a generous, loving heart.

He will be missed tremendously by all whose lives he has touched.

Steven is survived by his wife, Susan K. Evans-Croonquist, children: Sonja Conboy, Derek (Maudie) Croonquist, Tonya (Corey) Wilks, and Leif (Fialka) Croonquist; step-children: Katie Armstrong and Kami (Todd) Voliva; seven grandchildren: Ryan Wilks, Melody Conboy, Nick Wilks, Andrew Conboy, Luka Croonquist, Nathan Voliva, Debra Armstrong and William Armstrong; siblings: Lynda (Alan) Cowen, Doug (Sandi) Croonquist and Tracy (Jim) Gaither; brother-in-law, Terry (Toni) Sandberg; in-laws, Lloyd and Gladys Trerise; step-mom, Janice Croonquist; many loved nephews and nieces; and former wife, Rosa Massengale.

A memorial/celebration will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Moran Prairie Grange, 6006 S. Palouse Hwy, Spokane, WA.

Memorials in his name may be made to Hospice of Spokane or SCRAPS of Spokane Valley.
