Obituary: Melaas, Carl G.

MELAAS, Carl G. (Age 97) Passed away March 29, 2013 with his daughter and son by his side.

Carl was born to Gilbert and Ida Melaas in Cresco, Iowa on January 7, 1916.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy (Ed) Foster; son, Kenneth (Ann) Melaas, both of Spokane; two granddaughters, Andria (Jason) Hoover and Katie Foster, both of Seattle; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Makena Hoover; two step-grandchildren, Kelly and Ron (Elaine) Campbell; and two step-great-grandsons, Joshua and Justin Campbell.

Carl was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters and his wife, Della Jane, in 1998.

Carl served in the Army during WWII and retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1978.

He enjoyed many hobbies, always working with his hands.

His patience and positive attitude continued throughout his entire life.

The family wishes to thank Whisper Creek Adult Family Home and Horizon Hospice for their care.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013, 2-5pm at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.

Graveside Service will take place Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 1:30pm at Fairmount Memorial Park, to be followed by a 3:00pm Memorial Service at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave., Spokane, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Horizon Hospice.
