Obituary: Carson, Thomas J. “Tom”

Age 74

CARSON, Thomas J.

“Tom” March 3, 1939 - April 27, 2013 Tom was born in Dayton, Ohio to Jack and Julia Carson, the oldest of eight siblings.

He joined the Air Force at 17 years of age, retiring after 22 years of service in Spokane, Washington.

In his first assignment, he met and married on November 16, 1957, Wilma “Willie” Nurse in Spokane, WA.

Willie joined him in several assignments around the world.

Upon returning home to Spokane, in 1976, Tom retired from Fairchild Air Force Base in 1978.

Tom loved golfing and became a member of the Wandermere Golf Club and was an avid fisherman.

He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Willie, in 2001, father Jack and two of his siblings Dick and Jack Carson.

He is survived by his children and their spouses Brenda and Wayne Ryder (daughter), Aaron and Bonita Carson (son) and Lisa and Mike Burnett (daughter); grandchildren Jennifer and Stephen Foster (Brenda), Shawna Ryder and Freddy Vela (Brenda), Thomas John (T.J.) and Melissa Burnett (Lisa); great-grandchildren Tamia Foster (Jennifer) and Ryder James Vela (Shawna); mother Julia and siblings Carol Rodgers, David Carson, Mary Jo Sampson, Russ Carson, Judy Carson and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of memorials, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane and a special thanks to Cancer Care of Spokane.

At Tom’s request, no services will be held.
