Obituary: Ferderer, Jean M.

Age 90

FERDERER, Jean M. (Age 90) Passed away on April 24, 2013 at The Family Group Home with her family by her side.

Jean was born November 21, 1922 on the family farm in Mandan, North Dakota to Thomas H. Adams and Esther E. (Gardner) Adams.

She graduated high school in 1941 and married Paul I. Ferderer in 1943.

They moved to Seattle in 1952 where she was a stay at home mom.

She later worked at Boeing for 14 years, until her husband’s work took them to Spokane in 1974.

Jean liked to make quilts and almost every baby born that she knew got a baby quilt.

All of the family has a handmade quilt from her.

She loved to garden and preserve the fruits of her labor.

One of the most important things she loved was dancing at the Eagles in the north end and Valley Senior Center with her special dance partner of 13 years, Leonard Woods.

She valued the friendship of all that she met in Spokane and Seattle.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and sister, Jerry Files.

She is survived by her companion and dance partner, Leonard Woods; her children; Karen Kinney, Wayne (Shirley), and Gary (Robin W.) Ferderer; four grandchildren, Mike and Paul (April) Kinney; Brenda (Dave Mattson); Mary February Cotrufo (Tony); and six great-grandchildren, Todd Manning, Megan and Hana Kinney; Bella, Sasha and Antonio Cotrufo.

We wish to give a special thanks to Gena, Joanna and Judy at the Group Home for the wonderful care they provided for her.

We would also like to say thank you to Hospice of Spokane and their staff.
