Charity seeking host families

SPOKANE COUNTY – Solace for the Children is looking for families willing to host children from Afghanistan who will arrive in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area this summer to receive medical treatment.

The children are 7 to 12 years old. There are three boys and two girls who will arrive on June 20 and stay for six weeks. They will be accompanied by an interpreter.

Host families need to provide full-time care for the children, including housing, transportation to and from medical appointments, and will need to accompany the children on excursions. Each family will need to submit an application.

Volunteers are also needed to provide the host families with respite and help with the children’s activities.

For more information, call (208) 660-8088 or visit www.solaceforthechildren.org for an application.
