McDANIEL, Elmer F. Age 86 Elmer was called to be with our Lord on April 26, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born to George and Maude McDaniel in Gas City, Kansas in 1926 and moved to Spokane as a child. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart, Marian in 2012. They were married in Spokane on Dec. 26, 1943 and still attended the same church where they shared their wedding vows many years ago. Elmer is survived by three sons Mic McDaniel (Dona) of Enumclaw, WA, Jim McDaniel of Spokane and Dale McDaniel (Sue) of Harstene Island, Shelton, WA. Two other sons preceded him in death: Jerry Lee McDaniel (aged 13 in 1960) and Neil Edward McDaniel (aged 16 in 1968). Elmer had ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. In 1942, Elmer began work at the Mead Aluminum mill when it was owned by the Defense Department. Later he worked as a crane operator when Alcoa owned the plant. He eventually became a foreman for Kaiser, where he remained until his retirement in 1980. Dad loved to garden, hunt, camp and play golf. He took great pride in providing tomatoes for the entire neighborhood and riding his three-wheel bike every day. He was a wonderful father and friend. Special thanks are extended to Don and Wyoma Hersey who helped Dad live independently. Their love and concern was a blessing to our family. A celebration of his life will be arranged by Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, N. 1306 Monroe on Friday, May 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Friends and family will then gather at Fellowship Church of God, E. 2102 Everett, Spokane, WA. for lunch.
