Williams guides Huskies to third

Washington’s Chris Williams shot an even-par 70 on Wednesday to tie for third place at the Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championships at Los Angeles Country Club.

Williams (Moscow High) finished four rounds at 2-under-par 278, seven shots behind champion Max Homa of California. The Huskies finished in third at 1,432, 26 shots behind Cal.

The Huskies will learn their NCAA regional assignment on Monday.

Washington State (1,498) placed 11th in the 12-team field. Senior Hank Frame (University High) paced the Cougars by tying for 21st at 291, one shot ahead of sophomore Michael Anderson.

• Senior Gordon Webb tied for fifth place to lead Idaho to fifth place at the Western Athletic Conference Championship at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.

Webb finished three rounds at 7-over 223 to join six players in fifth, five shots behind champion Paul McConnell of UT Arlington.

Sophomore Aaron Cockerill tied for 16th at 227 as the Vandals finished at 910, 23 shots behind first-place New Mexico State. Cockerill earned second-team All-WAC honors.

Baseball

Colton Loomis pitched a seven-inning one-hitter in the opener, allowing just Josh Harbolt’s leadoff single in the first, as Community Colleges of Spokane (22-16, 13-9 NWAACC) posted a 10-0, 10-5 sweep over Blue Mountain (3-35, 1-21) at SFCC.

Loomis struck out four and walked one. Austin Bartleson had an RBI double in the first and a leadoff homer in the fourth to support Loomis.

Rudy Leon of the Sasquatch went 2 for 4 with three runs, three RBIs and a homer in the second game.
