Pullman, WV win in districts

Fifth-seeded West Valley went on the road and defeated No. 4 Colville 3-0 in the opening round of the District 7 2A boys soccer playoffs on Thursday.

The Eagles (8-8 overall) will play at No. 1 Cheney on Saturday at noon.

In Thursday’s other loser-out game, No. 3 Pullman (10-7) scored a 6-1 win over Clarkston (2-10). The Greyhounds will play at No. 2 East Valley, also Saturday at noon.

Saturday’s winners will earn regional berths.

Mortiz Lange scored twice for Pullman while Micha Lagerquist added two assists and Sam Druffel a goal and an assist. Pullman’s Josh Kannagin scored his first goal.

Softball

The 3A District I tournament host, Timberlake, rolled to a 12-2 victory over Priest River and will play Kellogg, a winner over Bonners Ferry, on Tuesday at 3 p.m. for a state berth. Priest River and Bonners Ferry will play in a 1 p.m. loser-out game. A 5 p.m. game will determine a play-in berth.

Lexie Posch had three hits, including a double and a triple, to lead Timberlake’s 14-hit attack.
