Investigators were searching for the killer of a man Friday night after a shooting inside a home in north Spokane.

Emergency personnel responded just after 5 p.m. to the report of a gunshot inside the home at 4508 N. Lincoln St. Officers and firefighters found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Spokane police Capt. Dave Richards said.

Detectives sought the public’s help looking for a black 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix believed connected to the killer. Anyone who sees the four-door car with license plate AJR3220 is asked to call 911 immediately, a police news release said.

“We are still trying to separate the witnesses from the neighbors,” Richards said. “We are looking for cars and people who may or may not be involved.”

A woman, described as the dead man’s roommate, was inside the home at the time of the shooting but apparently did not witness it, Richards said.

“We’re not even sure of the victim’s identity at this point,” he said.

The roommate was taken to the police station for interviews with major crimes detectives. “We arrived on scene and immediately started to get our arms around it,” Richards said.

Richards also wasn’t sure of the identity of the shooter: “I don’t believe the person is in the area at all.”

A weapon had not been recovered at the scene.
