Scouts plant new pine trees
Boy Scout Troop 430 and Cub Scout Pack 430, both based out of Millwood Presbyterian Church, teamed up last Saturday to plant 1,000 ponderosa pine trees to support an Eagle Scout project.
The trees were donated by Spokane Ponderosa, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve and revitalize native ponderosa pine urban forests in Spokane County.
The trees were planted along the North Spokane Corridor, in an effort to re-establish the trees in that area. The trees will also provide a sound buffer along a new bike trail on the route.
Scouts worked with the Washington Department of Transportation for the project.
