It isn’t too late for prospective Bloomsday runners to get in on Sunday’s event, which is expected to draw 51,000 participants.
Late registrations, with a $35 entry fee, are being accepted today during packet pickup at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. All in-town registrants must pick up their bib numbers by today.
Under heightened security measures in light of the Boston Marathon bombing last month, runners and walkers will not be admitted to the lineup without displaying their bib numbers, and they will not be permitted to carry backpacks or gym bags on the 12-kilometer course.
If the weatherman is correct, it will be the warmest Bloomsday in at least nine years. Forecasters are calling for a high of 77 degrees.
