Wineries gather for Spring Release Weekend

The Spokane Winery Association will host the Spring Release Weekend from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Nineteen area wineries will share new and previously released wines with the public. The event is held annually on Mother’s Day weekend. A list of participating wineries, along with a map to each location, can be found at www.spokanewineries.net. Tasting fees may apply.

Participants also can take advantage of the Corkage Free program. Buy an entrée at a participating restaurant, show a receipt and bottle from a same-day wine purchase at one of the wineries, and enjoy the wine with your meal, without a corkage fee. The restaurants are also listed on the website.

We’ve got more details and links on the Too Many Cooks blog at www.spokesman.com/ blogs/too-many-cooks.

Cd’A Chocolates opens downtown in Spokane

Get some Coeur d’Alene Chocolates without crossing the state line.

The Coeur d’Alene-based chocolate maker has a new store in River Park Square in downtown Spokane.

The business is a family affair. Owners Tim and Edena Yeager started carrying chocolates in their art gallery more than five years ago, but later took over chocolate making. They work with daughter and son-in-law Misty and Dave Davey and son Max Yeager making more than 36 different varieties of chocolates, truffles, caramels and nut chews. The candies are $2.75 each.

The new store is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday and can be reached at (509) 368-9214. There is more information at cdachocolates.com.
