Golf cart joyride in Liberty Lake park cut short

Liberty Lake police had a fairly quiet week from April 29 through Monday, with 27 incidents.

On April 29, officers responded to a report of two juveniles recklessly driving a golf cart through the park near the 700 block of North Molter.

When police arrived, they found a juvenile in the skate park who said two men took the golf cart from him – the man who made the complaint took the keys.

The keys to the cart were returned to the owner when he arrived.

A man and a woman reportedly stole a large amount of gasoline at the 22000 block of East Appleway Avenue early on April 29. The caller said the two drove away from the gas station north toward the freeway. It was later discovered the couple were the same people who were wanted on an Amber Alert. They were taken into custody in Fife, Wash., later that day.

Stolen credit cards continue to be a problem in the area.

On April 30, a man told police his wallet had been stolen either at the checkout or in the parking lot of Albertsons. When he arrived at his car, he noticed his wallet was missing. He went back into the store to look for it and couldn’t find it. He later learned two fraudulent charges had been made to one of his cards. The case is under investigation.

The next day, a man in the 23000 block of East Mission Avenue said his car had been broken into and a credit card was stolen from his wallet. While he was at the bank canceling his card, he was notified of multiple fraudulent charges. This case also is under investigation.

In total, police responded to six traffic offenses, three cases of suspicious people or circumstances, four citizen assistance calls, and one case each of an alarm, a bomb threat, a burglary, a citizen dispute, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, fire, a fugitive, lost or found property, repossession of property, theft, vehicle prowling and a welfare check.
