Our loss has left a hole in our world.
She was treasured and loved by many.
Jan was born on January 30, 1933.
She was a graduate of Tekoa High School and attended Washington State College where she was a proud member of the Alpha Sigma Kappa Alpha Theta Soriety.
She was also a member of P.E.O.
At the age of 21, she moved to Spokane where she met her future husband, Paul T. Lydig.
Jan and Paul remained in Spokane, where they raised their family.
Every day we are discovering just how many lives she touched.
Jan was funny, generous, and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
She was humble and ALWAYS there for her family and friends.
She loved time with her family, playing cards, jokes, cookies, traveling, knitting, sweatshirts, Birkenstocks, and, most of all, Priest Lake.
She was a nonjudgmental person, accepting people for who and what they were (with the exception of poor drivers).
Jan was a strong person.
She was exceptionally happy with her life and she lived every day to the fullest.
We are incredibly grateful to her dear friend Mae and all of her friends at Fairwood Retirement Center (which she labeled “The Home”) for their friendship and support.
Truly to ALL of her dear friends who enriched her life with travel, dinners, and laughter we humbly thank you.
To the compassionate staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, we will always remember your kindness to our family.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Norris Lombard, and her husband, Paul.
She is survived by her children Sharon (Darrell) Urlacher, Russ (DeeDee) Lydig, Doug (Toni) Lydig, 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her brother and sister in law, Dean and Loretta Lydig, her niece, Linda and her precious cat Butterscotch.
A celebration in Jan’s honor will be held at the Spokane Country Club on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00.
Donations can be made to The Wishing Star Foundation or a charity of your choice.
