Obituary: Lockie, Kathleen Ellen

LOCKIE, Kathleen Ellen September 25, 1939 - May 2, 2013 A resident of Oregon City, Kathleen was born on September 25, 1939 in Corvallis, OR to Barbara Mary Neuman Lockie and Paul Leo Lockie.

Kathleen passed away on May 2, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathleen loved music, the outdoors, and was an avid gardener.

Professionally, she was an outstanding educator: a teacher, principal and educational supervisor.

She served as Principal in elementary schools in Oregon and Washington.

She was the Assistant Superintendent for Spokane Catholic Schools, the Director of Education for The Sisters of St. Mary’s of Oregon campus schools and an adjunct teacher at Gonzaga University and University of Portland.

She was a member of the Governor’s Oregon Private School Advisory Board and the Catholic Education Futures Project in Washington, D.C. Kathleen was a member of the Sisters of St. Mary’s of Oregon for 24 years and a member of the Sisters of the Holy Names for eight years.

Kathleen is survived by her brother Larry Lockie and his wife Sharon, and several wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Bobbie Anne Guest and Phyllis Borough.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church at 7525 S.E.

39th, Portland, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made in Kathleen’s memory, to any of the following: The Sisters of St. Mary’s of Oregon, Marylhurst University, or The Sisters of the Holy Names.
