EWU Willow Springs Editions Reading and Fundraiser Inland Northwest Center for Writers hosts an evening of readings from Sherril Jaffe’s short story collection “You Are Not Alone & Other Stories,” winner of the 2011 Spokane Prize, as well as Robert Gregory’s poetry chapbook “You Won’t Need That.” Saturday, 6 p.m., Kress Gallery, third floor of River Park Square, 808 W. Lost in the 50s Events begin Thursday with Rock ’N’ Roll Heaven at 7 p.m. at the Panida Theater with performances from Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles impersonators. Young Dancers World CelebrationDancers ages 4-7 will perform dances representing Hawaii, New York, China, a fantasy Fairyland and other places. Art and Soul Third annual art festival features painter Ric Gendron and printmaker and photographer Carl Richardson demonstrating their unique creative talents. Benefits Freeman High School’s art department. Freeman students, under the instruction of Danette Garcia, will provide live music, featuring piano, voice and instrumental solos. An art show of 2012-13 student work, includes watercolors, acrylic paintings, linoleum block prints and plaster carvings. The public is invited to help create a large collaborative acrylic painting, view demonstrations of arts processes such as brick-carving and block printing, and make their own prints. Original artwork and prints will be for sale, including works by Harold Balazs, Mel McCuddin, Ken Spiering and Freeman High School art students. Event includes refreshments. Empire Classic Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championship The 2013 show includes the GNC Pro Deadlift Championships, which will feature some of the top pullers in the world. This is an NPC sanctioned event. 9 a.m., prejudging; 11 a.m., bikini and physique prejudging and finals; 5 p.m., doors open for night show; 6 p.m., bodybuilding finals, fitness/figure.
