Age 72

HUDSON, Gary J.

(Age 72) Gary J. Hudson, 72, of Longview passed away April 18, 2013.

He was born on May 21, 1940, in Spokane, to Burt and Lucille (Jennings) Hudson.

Gary moved to the Longview area from Vancouver 13 years ago.

Gary served 20 years in the Coast Guard and 14 years as a merchant seaman.

He enjoyed working on hot rods, traveling, and writing.

He was the published author of “They Had to Go Out,” a true story of a boating tragedy.

Gary was intelligent, thoughtful, kind, and had a good sense of humor.

He knew how to get things done, whatever they may be.

He married Joyce (LaCoursiere) Larson April 29, 2000, in Longview, WA.

She survives him at home.

Also surviving are a daughter, Jeanine Spangle of Deer Park, WA; a son, Gary Abraham of Woodland; three stepchildren, Gregory Larson of Kelso and Sheri Barella and Eric Larson, both of Longview; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by two sisters.

Cremation has taken place and ashes were put out to sea by the Coast Guard on April 27th.
