David was born in St. Maries, ID, on August 4, 1950, to Alfred and Frances (Fulton) Long.
He was raised in Coeur d’Alene and Plummer.
David was a veteran and served in the US Navy.
After his discharge he returned to North Idaho.
David married Gayle Long on July 19, 1999, in Phoenix, AZ.
He was a logger by trade and was currently working for Lanier Brugh as a truck driver.
David loved old cars and airplanes.
He enjoyed researching history, especially World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle of Rathdrum, ID; three children: Allison Long, Brittany Long, and Ben Long; three step-children: Sandy Holding, Kevin Marsh, and Staci Nees; 10 grandchildren: Kaytlin, Andrew, Taylor, Preston, Hannah, Cameron, Hunter, Anya, Olivia, and Emma; brother Jerry Long; two sisters: Ida Franklin and Connie Long; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; special pet Sadie.
David is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Lynda.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, and 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday May 15, 2013, at the English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, ID.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, ID.
Burial with military honors will be at the Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, ID.
