Obituary: Whitehill, John Louis “Jack”

WHITEHILL, John Louis “Jack” (Age 89) Jack passed away peacefully, surrounded by his immediate family, on April 17, 2013, in Spokane, WA.

He was born on May 21, 1923 to John and Edith Whitehill in Bellingham, WA.

After serving in WWII as a Flight Officer he returned to St. Martin’s College getting his degree in Business.

He started working for West Coast Airlines soon after and retired as a District Manager for Republic Airlines in 1982.

During his life he was a Boy Scout troop leader for Troop 191, a member of the Shriners, Freemasons, Rotary West, Spokane Power Squadron, Republican Party, and Northwood Presbyterian Church.

He loved meeting people, boating, camping, traveling, the church, and talking politics.

Jack is survived by his wife, Sylvia Whitehill (Gundersen); sister, Jeanne Harris of Bellingham, WA; son, Gregory Whitehill (Sandy) of Deer Park, WA; daughters, Sandra Whitehill and Marcia Whitehill- Ezell of Loon Lake, WA; daughter, Brenda Whitehill of Oroville, WA; niece, Jackie Scutvick and family of Bellingham, WA; and nephew, Bill Harris and family of Bremerton, WA; as well as six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith; son, Thomas Whitehill; in-laws Thomas and Bergit Gundersen; sons-in- law, George Gongaware and Jerry Ezell; and granddaughter, Megan Whitehill.

Funeral Services will be held on May 17th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery located at 21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake.

Reception to follow at the Audubon Park Masonic Lodge, 2821 W. Northwest Blvd., Spokane, WA.
