Pullman tops in singles, doubles

Pullman’s Stephanie Her beat East Valley’s Callie Hanson 6-4, 6-2 to claim the girls singles title at the District 7 2A meet Saturday at Washington State University in Pullman.

The win gave Her the top seed to the state tournament.

Hanson went on to beat Cheney’s Katelynn Smedley for the second state berth.

The top seed in doubles went to Pullman’s Shayla Robinson and Brittani Harvey, who beat Clarkston’s Kianna Arthur and Rachel Folsom 6-1, 6-1.

Arthur and Folsom earned the second state berth with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Adriana Arnone and Kristen Carey, also of Clarkston.

Clarkston’s Ryan Adams won the boys singles title by beating West Valley’s Chris Myers 6-0, 6-1.

Pullman’s Jamison Simanson and Joseph Chung beat Clarkston’s Alex Downs and Marcus Dreps in the doubles championship match.

The top two boys singles and top two doubles seeds will play in the regional final on Saturday.

Freeman’s Andie Olson claimed the District 7 girls singles title with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Riverside’s Sydney Spray at Mead.

Chewelah’s Becka Kenny and Bethany Kohmehl claimed the girls doubles title with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Freeman’s Kristin Talbott and Kailyn Gady.

The top four boys and girls in singles and doubles earned berths to the bi-district tourney at West Valley on Friday and Saturday.
