Child hit in drive-by shooting near Othello
A gunman who opened fire on a family in a Cadillac, wounding a 4-year-old child, near Othello last week was still being sought today, authorities said.
The child, who was not identified, suffered head wounds Friday from bullet fragments that did not penetrate the skull, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was treated at Othello Community Hospital that night and then released.
According to the sheriff’s office, the family was in a red Cadillac about 7 p.m. Friday when they came under fire from someone in a small brown car that had pulled up alongside it in the 600 block of Wagon Road about a mile west of Othello. The five family members in the Cadillac ranged in age from 4 to 44.
The driver of the Cadillac accelerated away with the brown car in pursuit, the sheriff’s office said. When the Cadillac pulled up to the family’s residence, additional shots were fired from the brown car, which is when the child was hit.
Sheriff’s investigators are asking that anyone who might know something about the attack to contact them (509) 488-2061 or (509) 659-1122.
