Two law enforcement officers placed on leave

Two Spokane-area law enforcement officers, both facing potential criminal charges in unrelated cases, are on administrative leave. The Spokane Police Department confirmed today that Officer Jeff Graves was placed on leave May 9 after being made aware of misconduct allegations against him. Court documents show that a woman who Graves acknowledged having traded text and FaceBook messages with, accused him of stalking her and making aggressive and unwanted sexual advances. Police Chief Frank Straub, in a statement, said a criminal investigation is being conducted by both the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and the Spokane Police Department. Additionally, an internal affairs investigation has been initiated. Earlier this week, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office placed Detective Dale Toliver on leave after being advised that he was being investigated for assault in Lincoln County. Toliver faces domestic violence and second-degree assault charges in connection with a Sunday confrontation near Odessa, according to the sheriff’s office. He arranged through his attorney to surrender to Lincoln County authorities earlier today, after being discharged from a local hospital where he was being treated for “significant injuries” suffered in the confrontation. Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said an internal investigation is being initiated but that the assault investigation is being conducted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
