Obituary: Seiss, Winifred F. (Age 95)

SEISS, Winifred F. (Age 95) Passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 30, 2013.

She was born on March 27, 1918 in Bend, Oregon to Edward and Gertrude Vogel.

Winifred graduated from The Dalles High School and continued in nursing studies and duty including Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland where she received her registered nurse (RN) license.

During her nursing career in The Dalles she worked at the hospital, the clinic and some private duty care.

After remarrying and moving to Spokane in the late 1950s she enjoyed raising her family and not working.

Later, after her husband passed away, she worked for a few years as a nurse supervisor at a long term care facility.

During this time she married Bob Seiss.

Once retired they traveled to California and Arizona for the winters and they enjoyed several cruises.

Their main relaxation came at their place at Gypsy Bay along the shore of the Pend Oreille River near Sandpoint, ID.

Here, they enjoyed entertaining family and friends every summer.

Winifred was a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine (LOS) where she spent many hours volunteering with the LOS including at the Moonshriner’s Elephant Ears Booth at the Interstate Fair.

Winifred is survived by her daughter Patricia LaMay of Sacramento; stepson David Seiss; sister-in-law Annabelle Vogel; cousins Mike, Stan, Pete and Paul Vogel.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers who gave Winifred such wonderful care.

There will be a private family service at the gravesite.
