1. C. The rules proposed last week by the Washington State Liquor Control Board say a store must be at least 1,000 feet from a school, playground, day care center and several other facilities, which complies with Initiative 502. The rules also say minors aren’t allowed in the store.

2. C. A construction company essentially destroyed one of Belize’s largest Mayan pyramids to extract crushed rock for a road project, authorities announced last week.

3. B. The district is proposing slashing health insurance benefits for teachers and their families, instead offering limited matching of employee contributions to health savings accounts.

4. D. Beckham announced his retirement last week after playing and winning with teams in England, Spain, the United States and France.

5. D. While the Washington Department of Social and Health Services is tracking people who misuse their benefits, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is going after stores that illegally redeem benefits in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. A new agreement between the two agencies is expected to help them find cheaters by analyzing each other’s data.
