Eric Idle gives commencement to Whitman graduates

Associated Press
WALLA WALLA, Wash. — English entertainer and former Monty Python member Eric Idle delivered the commencement speech Sunday at Whitman College in Walla Walla where his daughter Lily was among the 375 graduates. The college gave Idle an honorary doctorate of humane letters degree. Idle called his speech “There’s no time like the pleasant.” KVEW reports it included a poem: “Life has a very simple plot. First you’re here, and then you’re not. So remember, life is very short, and life can be very pleasant, so do enjoy it.”
