Two escape house fire in Spokane Valley

From staff reports
Two people escaped a fire that caused $50,000 in damage to a Spokane Valley home Wednesday night. A release from the Spokane Valley Fire Department said the two residents were home when the fire broke out just before 10:30 p.m., but they were able to get out. Initial crews responding to the scene at 11712 E. 36th Ave. reported black smoke coming from multiple locations, including the roof and vents. Crews took just over 20 minutes to knock down the fire, which was mostly contained to a bathroom and the attic. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Red Cross was brought in to assist the family.
