Obituary: Hosmer, Ronald Asher

Age 80

HOSMER, Ronald Asher (Age 80) Passed away on May 20, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, ID.

Born on August 16, 1932 to Lulu Belle Severance Hosmer and Bruce Albert Hosmer in Copenhagen, NY, Ron moved with his family several times in his early years before the family settled in Adams, NY in 1943.

It was here he finished school and enlisted in the US Navy in 1949.

Ron saw action in Korea in 1953.

He married Barbara J. Thorsen in Meridian, MS in 1953, and although they divorced in 1964, they had been blessed with three children.

Ron moved about the country following what turned out to be a forty year career in food service management and restaurant ownership.

His career culminated with the ownership of the “Italian Gardens” in North Lewiston until its closure in 1994.

In 1979, Ron met his only true love, Lydia Hope Clark Bodah, in Lewiston, ID and they married in 1981.

Ron and Lydia had a wonderful life together.

They were avid Square Dancers belonging to four clubs in the Valley area including the one they started “Odds and Ends” with Ronald calling the squares.

When his health wouldn’t allow dancing Ron turned to his hobbies.

He belonged to the LC Train club for 10 years and became re-interested in collecting and repairing antique clocks.

In addition to cherishing clocks, Ron collected and treasured many friends.

He will be remembered by many people as a loving man respected for his many talents.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister, Ramona; and step-daughter, Nannette.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia; his three children and four step-children, Roger (Catherine) Hosmer of Pensacola, FL, Phyllis (Holley) Fincher of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Linda (Mike) Dublinski of Powell, TN, also by Jill (Kim) Berg of Spokane, WA, Julie (Severin) Ndoumy of Las Vegas, NV, Matt (Mellisa) Bodah of Lewiston, ID, and Andy (Michael Ann) Bodah of Lewiston, ID; a son-in-law, Jim Redwine of Spokane, WA; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 24th, 2013, at the Science of Mind Church, 2707 27th Street, Clarkston, WA.
