Obituary: Barner, Donald J. “Jim”

Age 79

BARNER, Donald J.

“Jim” April 9, 1934 - April 29, 2013 Jim was born in Stapleton, Nebraska, the ninth of 10 children, to Lester Barner and Hazel Raynard Barner.

He graduated from Walla Walla high school and served two years in the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

He worked for the United States Postal Service for many years in Cheney, Washington, and later owned and maintained several rental properties there.

He was married to Martha Jean (Lyons) Barner, with whom he had two daughters.

He later was married to Robin Keyes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Barner; his mother Hazel Barner; sisters, Evelyn Stephens and Thelma Rodman; brothers, Harold Barner, Ray Barner, Melvin Barner, Bob Barner, and one granddaughter Seteva Bowden.

He is survived by his two daughters, Desiree Cox and Debbie Bowden, three siblings, Russ Barner, Choteau, MT; Keith Barner, Bozeman, MT and Myrtle Dawson, Battle Ground, WA; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per the deceased’s request, no service will be held.

Interment will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at Medical Lake, WA.
