Obituary: Buckley, Mary Ilene (Martin)

Age 91

BUCKLEY, Mary Ilene (Martin) April 3, 1922 - May 21, 2013 Mary Ilene Buckley passed away May 21, 2013 of natural causes at the Hospice House in Spokane, WA.

She was born in Wilbur, WA on April 3, 1922 to Vincent V. and Nora Pruitt Martin.

She graduated from Wilbur High School in 1940.

She was known as Ilene to her family and friends.

Ilene was co-owner of a drug store in Wilbur as a young adult and also worked in accounting.

Her main employment career was with The State Bank of Wilbur where she was the Head Cashier, today known as the CFO, which she retired from.

She married Elver R. Buck Buckley on June 1, 1956 in Wilbur, WA.

where they lived until moving to Spokane in 1985.

They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2006 with a big party attended by friends and family.

In the years prior to being married and once married she enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing and traveling throughout the United States.

She was a jokester and the life of the party at any gathering.

She was generous and giving to friends and family alike, she will be missed but never forgotten.

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Iva Martin Iverson Quarnstrom; her brother, Vincent V. Bud Martin; three nephews, Bill Iverson, Jack Iverson, and Tom Martin.

She is survived by her husband Elver R. Buckley of Spokane; nieces Peggy Iverson Schadendorf of Mesquite, NV, Kay Ilene Martin Heaberlin of Colorado Springs, CO; and nephews Larry Vincent Martin of Spokane and Richard James Martin of Orange, CA.

She is also survived by many many great and great-great-nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

The family wishes to thank the great staff at the Hospice House of Spokane for their gentle and loving care.

Per Ilene’s wishes there will be no funeral service.

Private burial will be at the Wilbur, WA Cemetery.

A celebration / party of her life will be held in Spokane in mid-July at a location and date and time to be determined.
