Obituary: Killien, (Weidner) (Age 70), Marjorie J.

KILLIEN, Marjorie J.

(WEIDNER) (Age 70) There is no cure for the Big A and the only relief is death.

On May 18, 2013 Margie finally got her wish.

Born in Spokane, Margie graduated Lewis and Clark HS in 1960, attended WSU and in 1965 married Pat Killien.

For the next 20 years we moved round the country chasing the gold ring.

During that time she raised two beautiful children, Robin Fiorillo, Spokane, (Pat, deceased, and children Erin and Gina) and Pat Jr., Bonney Lake, WA, (Lexie and children Ashlyn, Suzanne and Nadia whom she never knew).

We returned to Spokane in 1985 and in 1988, a mere few days after becoming empty nesters Margie took on the part time role of looking after first her aging mother-in-law and than her aging parents.

This was a role that would last 19 years.

Margie first started showing signs of Alzheimer’s in 2004, shortly after I retired.

So much for the golden years.

She loved her grand babies, tennis, hiking, fiddling in the garden, river rafting and the great outdoors.

But when she admitted to being unable to keep score in tennis she knew the jig was up and any shred of deniability vanished.

She died less than 6 years after her father died of the same ugly disease.

Margie, you deserved better.

In addition to those mentioned above Margie is survived by her brother, David D. Weidner Jr. of Spokane and Joan Schoepflin of Seattle.

A big thanks to Judy Baldwin and Alice Harmon who hung in there until the end and showed her the dignity and respect she deserved.

Thanks also to Dr. Berdine Bender for her help and understanding.

Also thanks to the staff at Rockwood South Courtyard and Atrium, Hospice of Spokane and Kathy Nix of At Home Care.

I couldn’t have done it without you.

And thanks to my friends who put up with me.

You kept me busy and helped me retain some normalcy to life.

Margie, I’m sorry it took so long.

I did my best.

Kids, enjoy life while you can.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
