Man who shoved woman out of moving car apprehended near Cheney

A motorist shoved a woman out of his car today and ran over her, then tried to flee police before crashing his car south of Interstate 90 near Cheney. Spokane County sheriff’s deputies apprehended Aaron Coman, 30, near the Cheney-Tyler exit at about 1 p.m., Deputy Craig Chamberlin said. Coman had crashed his car into a pine tree on the south side of Interstate 90. Police were alerted at about 11:10 a.m. of possible domestic violence in the car, when the woman called. Chamberlin said a dispatcher heard her begging to be let out of the car. At about 11:28 a.m., Coman shoved the woman out of the moving vehicle near Exit 264 and ran over her. She had only minor injuries and refused medical help. Coman continued traveling westbound on I-90 before becoming airborne and crossing the eastbound side of the freeway over several lanes of traffic. He flew over the median and into a tree at milepost 260. “We are just so happy that eastbound traffic was not affected as far as a collision taking place,” Chamberlin said. “That would have been a terrible situation.” Coman had minor injuries and attempted to escape on foot. Sherriff’s deputies, K-9 units and Air One, as well as Washington State Patrol officers, scoured the wooded area, eventually finding Coman about 50 yards from the car, Chamberlin said. He had tried to hide himself under grass and brush. He was found with no shoes and only one sock, apparently leaving the other tangled in the barbed wire surrounding the embankment. Coman was arrested without incident. He may face charges of first degree assault and felony evasion, Chamberlin said.
