Ben was born on October 25, 1929 in Tacoma where he graduated from Stadium High School in 1948 and the College (now University) of Puget Sound in 1953.
He married his college sweetheart, Eileen McArthur in 1952 and later served as a Special Agent with the U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps.
He was employed twenty-one years as Sales Manager for Proctor & Gamble Distributing Co, and sixteen years as Advertising Director of the Roundup-Super Value Grocery Distributing Co.
In 1960, while living in Tacoma, Ben began a forty-two year career as a Football and Basketball Official, and was elected into the Washington Officials Association Hall of Fame in 2003.
He is survived by; his beloved wife of 60 years, Eileen, at the home; children, Randi Kaye (Tim) O’Brien of Spokane, Darcy Lynn (Dan) Lohmiller of Bozeman, MT, and Jeffry Michael (Shannon) Fawcett of Bothell, WA; sister, Mary Susan (Wayne) Chumbley of Dupont, WA; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by; parents, Angelo Vernon Fawcett and Mary Evelyn (Chorlton) Fawcett; and, eight year old son, David Ben Fawcett (in 1964).
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:30a.m.
at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA.
